Emergency Dental Care

Dental emergencies happen, whether it’s a cracked tooth while eating or waking up with sudden jaw pain. Many people go to the ER, but most emergency rooms aren’t equipped for dental care. They may provide antibiotics, but you’ll still need to see a dentist and may face a high bill.

Call our office instead. We’ll see you quickly, relieve your pain, and create a treatment plan that saves you time, money, and discomfort.

If you’re experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or visit your nearest ER.

Common Dental Emergencies

Common Reasons for Emergency Dental Care
Sudden tooth pain – Often caused by conditions such as:

  • Deep cavities
  • Advanced gum disease
  • Abscessed or infected teeth
  • Exposed tooth roots
  • Impacted wisdom teeth

Chipped or fractured teeth – Usually from trauma or biting something hard. Sometimes a hidden cavity weakens the tooth. If you can, bring the broken piece with you.

Lost teeth – Whether from injury or unexpectedly falling out, a lost tooth is an emergency. Sometimes it can be saved if treated quickly.
If possible, rinse the tooth gently (avoid touching the root), place it back in the socket without forcing, or keep it in milk or saliva. Contact our office right away.

Other Dental Emergencies

Some other problems that require prompt emergency dental treatment include:

  • A tooth is dislodged but not completely knocked out
  • Something is stuck between your teeth that you can’t remove with brushing or dental floss.
  • A filling or crown has fallen out
  • You are experiencing a dental abscess
  • You have injured your gums or palate

Call our office for an appointment for any dental emergency.
